From ignorance to learning and back

I landed in some sophisticated place amidst the all-knowing studs.
I couldn’t understand the technicalities of F-1 race
I couldn’t understand the soccer terminology
I couldn’t stand the cacophonic parties
I couldn’t get a word of any English song.
I couldn’t see any of booze or smoke around
I hardly talked to girls.
My language knew no slang or swears words.
I believed in early to bed and early to rise funda.
But it all wasn’t that cool.

My weekend evenings were spent in front of a TV trying to understand who the hell Schumacher and Mr Alosno and Mr. Ferrari were.
I woke up late in the nights to see the soccer world cup and all the club matches, trying to decipher why there are 22 crazy people running after a ball, kicking it and others.
I did night outs chatting and loafing and playing computer games
I tried to dance to indecipherable cacophony.
I listened to western rock day in and out, with its lyrics googled and trying to phathom it.
I often got drunk with some weirdly distasteful cocktail.
I tried to inhale some of the nauseating nicotine hoping for the ‘kick’ it gives, as they said.
I created a fictional girl friend called Sush.
I spoke the four-lettered word once in every 4 words.

One fine day,
I asked someone who was the for which team was Mr Ferrari the defender
Who got the pole position in the European Premier League?
I danced to some cacophony in an attempt to impress that pretty lady, and fell down to fracture my leg.
I asked who is Mukul Jaikishan, when someone said did I mean Michael Jackson?
I was drunk and came to the class with a hangover, only to be sent out by the professor who felt that I wasn’t sane, when I said what the F**k are u teaching.
I was talking to Sush on my phone in the mess and it rang.
I was sleeping during an end term examination after a night out with Age of Empires and got myself an F grade, close to being thrown out.

… And then I decided to end the pseudo-giri
It was the time to unlearn all my great learnings
And was again on the ground zero,
Relatively speaking, I was back to absolute ignorance

  1. thanx

... being yourself is a big challenge and most of us often end up compromising on it.

  2. Yeah, being yourself is difficult indeed, but ignorance is not only a bliss sometimes, but actually a preferred option many times!

  3. but many "not being yourself" things happen when we are trying not to sound as a ignorant ... and all kinds of things we do for it

K-eediyot box

(Disclaimer - Please do not think that I don't know spellings ... my numerologist told to use the above spelling for eediyot and add a k before it, this will help generate more TRP and comments for the blog) Time 7 : 30 - 8 PM, 8 - 8 : 30 PM .... 10 : 30 - 11 PM Venue - Zee TV, Star Plus, Sony entertainment etc. etc. Figure this - A family drawing room belonging to an extremely rich business house occupied with a mixture of emotional and scheming characters - 1 saas, 2 bahus, 1 son (+1 who makes an entry unaware of what is happening), 2 random distant relatives, 3 random cousins, all mouthing dialogues that have earlier been said by actors ranging from Nirupa Roy to Rajesh Khanna, followed by a long silence, 13 camera angles for same scene (top view, side view, cross sectional view, lateral view, 45 degree elevation view) , flashbacks and memories that last few episodes, good people becoming evil, evil people actually being un-evil, rebirths, amnesia, a background score that often ...

Random Birthday thoughts

As I would have cribbed @ 1000000000 words per day, I am currently at a place called Jhunjhunu where I have no social life to speak of, internet is the only thing that keeps me going, apart from few random movies or episodes of Seinfeld. So prospects of celebrating birthday in this solitary confinement are not that exciting! Too add to that, as I switched on my laptop yesterday night, I realized that it had conked off and is showing fan error as the reason. For me this was the end of world. And I knew not how would I survive! I hoped the issue will get sorted out in a week but it is too much to ask in this small town and this time period seemed to be an extremely optimistic guess. My birthday eve and early morning were spent on developing strategies on how to get it repaired. I couldn't find any IBM authorized dealer here, and I would have needed to send it to Delhi. There were two options - first was about sending it as a parcel to one of my friends at IBM , either directly or i...

Some random movie reviews

1 holiday, 6 movies! 8 movies in a span of last 32 hours! Huh … That was too much … A mixture of good cinema and utter crap … of hardcore realism to escapism … of typical and offbeat … of some popular to some watched by a handful … a mixture of many differents actually! Just writing a purposeless random review of all of these – 1. 1. City of god – Excellent! Brazilian movie, at best understood with help of subtitles and visuals. An excellent depiction of a Brazilian slum, where kids having guns is not an uncommon site; where crime is a way of life. 2. 2. Love actually – Beautiful! A mushy love story … rather many mushy love stories …Karan Johar types, if some parallel has to be drawn to our desi phillum industry … with everyone from a school kid to Britain’s prime minister is falling in love. A good watch nevertheless! 3. 3. Jhom Barabar Jhoom – Crap Only good things are nice songs … but not that interesting with random jhoom baraabar...

Latesht in Indian Politics - A quick analysis

A quick opinion/ analysis on different architects of last few days in Indian politics -- Manmonhan Singh (INC) Finally ... he asserted that he is the boss! To me he seemed like Michael Corleone, who at the end of 'The Godfather' emerges out of shadow of Vito Corleone. Maybe, reforms will get a boost now. Favourite song - ... sauda khar khara (Punjabi Song - Sukhbir) Favourite Movie - Singh Is Kinng ( No prizes for guessing it right) LK Advani (BJP) Opposing everthing just for the heck of opposing it. Maybe, he is toooooo eager to become PM Favourite song - "Tumne fenka jaal, Ulti pad gayee chal ..." (Line from - Aana mere pyaar ko ... , Kabhi haan kabhi naa" -- Who will say these lines to whom, is yet to be determined though! Favourite Movies - Jhonny Gaddar Prakash Karat (CPI-M) The blow he got was 59 karat pure ... and probably made in China! Favourite song - Pardesiyon se na akhiya milana (China is not Pardes, I assume!) Favourite Movie - China Town Somnath...
