Beyond the facade ...

"Hi, How r u doing ?"
"I am fine"
"Howzz life ?"
"M doing great. Life is great."
"Great. Life is great at my end too... you tell, What's new ?
"Nothing special.
Enjoying at Delhi"

Maybe often, be in case of two friends catching up after quite some time catching up probably on a social networking site like Orkut, or catching up through chat or mails. Maybe, in case of a telephonic conversation, it may last a bit longer getting to some the specifics. But more often than not, the script is similar. Maybe, the real person remains there buried within so many layers, longing to come out, but can't ...

  2. True! So many times there have been so many things happening to us, for the better or for the worse, but we never seem to veil them up. We often would just say "Nothing much happening here. What's up at your end?" I believe most of the times it means that there have been things happening, just that I don't want to go over them any more. May be, I am trying time would heal it all, eventually...

  3. Great post. But it would not be fair to load the other person with our life. Sometimes just an unpretentious hello can remind your friends that you are there for them :-)

  4. so true...as shweta said sometimes we don't want to burden our friends..also maybe sometimes we don't want to start disclosing lest we are burdened in return. Or maybe we don't have the faith that our friends have the time or interest to listen to us..to really listen

Rich, yet bankrupt
