All in the name of journalism

The paparazzi seems to goes frenzy over any thing pertaining to the rich and the famous, and more so if they happen to be a cinema star.

Just the other day I was browsing through a website which described Brad Pitt and Anjelina Jolie’s Indian trip. They even had the detailed description of their local train journey in Mumbai and Pune trip.

Now I know that they had an auto-rickshaw ride in Pune

They visited the Gateway of India

Anjelina had a local train ride (in second class compartment) from Charni Road to Churchgate.

And she was wearing a T- shirt and a cargo pant.

And she even brought train tickets (now beat that!).

She bought some peanuts and mentos at Marine lines station.

This is one of the sample news items, but such type of news galore like an actor planning to quit smoking since years, or someone having an hour of daily workout, or the diet of an actress and blah blah.

Just take the example of the times of India and with all the kind of chatpata, masaaledar news, sleaze, rumours etc. Or any other newspaper or website or TV show who give various useless tidbits of information about who is seeing whom, or who is eating what, or a flawless GPS or telescreen like thing by which they know who is where at any given instant, who is doing what and several whys for that, or who is saying what about whom any why, and millions of other accusations, revelations and theories about any celebrity.

Despite criticizing all these I love watching them all!

Random Birthday thoughts

As I would have cribbed @ 1000000000 words per day, I am currently at a place called Jhunjhunu where I have no social life to speak of, internet is the only thing that keeps me going, apart from few random movies or episodes of Seinfeld. So prospects of celebrating birthday in this solitary confinement are not that exciting! Too add to that, as I switched on my laptop yesterday night, I realized that it had conked off and is showing fan error as the reason. For me this was the end of world. And I knew not how would I survive! I hoped the issue will get sorted out in a week but it is too much to ask in this small town and this time period seemed to be an extremely optimistic guess. My birthday eve and early morning were spent on developing strategies on how to get it repaired. I couldn't find any IBM authorized dealer here, and I would have needed to send it to Delhi. Some random movie reviews

1 holiday, 6 movies! 8 movies in a span of last 32 hours! Huh … That was too much … A mixture of good cinema and utter crap … of hardcore realism to escapism … of typical and offbeat … of some popular to some watched by a handful … a mixture of many differents actually! Just writing a purposeless random review of all of these – 1. 1. City of god – Excellent! Brazilian movie, at best understood with help of subtitles and visuals. An excellent depiction of a Brazilian slum, where kids having guns is not an uncommon site; where crime is a way of life. 2. 2. Love actually – Beautiful! A mushy love story … rather many mushy love stories …Karan Johar types, if some parallel has to be drawn to our desi phillum industry … with everyone from a school kid to Britain’s prime minister is falling in love. A quick opinion/ analysis on different architects of last few days in Indian politics -- Manmonhan Singh (INC) Finally ... he asserted that he is the boss! To me he seemed like Michael Corleone, who at the end of 'The Godfather' emerges out of shadow of Vito Corleone. Maybe, reforms will get a boost now.
